 One Movie for the Planet

Inspiring change.

One movie, one meal at a time.

Is protecting the planet
worth watching one movie?

Accepting this challenge means committing to watching one plant-based eating advocacy documentary within the next week. It's that simple. See what happens next.

Spring Onions

About Us . . .

One Movie for the Planet aims to spread awareness about the environmental, ethical, and health benefits of plant-based diets. This project is based on the observation that many people who make changes toward plant-based eating do so after watching a convincing documentary about the negative impacts of animal agriculture.

By encouraging people to watch these films, we hope to spark conversations and raise awareness. If this leads to even a single individual being inspired to take one small step toward eating more plants, like committing to "Meatless Mondays" or choosing to order the roasted veggie bowl over a hamburger, then this project will have been a step in the right direction for our planet.

How it works

"I watched Forks over Knives and afterwards decided to try cooking just one fully plant-based meal for health reasons. Here's a pic of the black bean sweet potato chili I made. Delicious!”

- Marie A.

"As someone who played competitive tennis, nutrition was always a focal point leading up to major tournaments. My family and coaches always advised me to consume meat for protein and muscle building. However, after watching "The Game Changers," I find myself questioning this conventional advice. The documentary has challenged my perceptions of protein sources and prompted me to reconsider the role of plant-based foods in optimizing athletic performance and overall health. I now realize that my diet during my competitive years may not have been as optimal as I once believed. Moving forward, I’m inspired to incorporate more diverse sources of protein into my diet. While I probably will not change my entire diet, I will definitely strive to explore plant-based alternatives. "The Game Changers" was a really interesting and educational film, and I think that more people would question their conventional eating habits after watching the documentary"

-Charlie L.

"We made the Green Goddess bowls tonight and they were delicious! So easy to make, great flavors and very filling! We will make them again!"

- Kathleen S.

"It was very hard to watch Land of Hope and Glory and several times I needed to take a break because of the cruelty to the animals and the horrific conditions that they live their lives. It doesn't have to be like this, but big business has made it difficulty for local small farms to survive. Very sad.”

- Tom A.

"I enjoyed some of the imagery in this movie and am more aware and concerned about how drastically Mother Earth has changed since humanity became industrialized. I adore Gorillas and could marvel at them all day long! I feel sad thinking about how they will not have a home in the future unless drastic changes are made by us humans. Sigh. I appreciate your suggestion of watching just one movie; I'm more tuned in to the impacts of human activity on all of Earth's life forms and that awareness will help guide my future choices."

- Meagen S.

"Hi Grace! I saw your Dad eating the Jennifer Aniston salad last week and had to try it! I’m so excited! I loved it and will have it for lunch all week! Excited to try more vegan options! Thank you for inspiring me!”

- Rachel K.

"Saw The Game Changers last week and Ioved it! Had three meat free days since watching and permanently changed my breakfast to plant-based. Keep it up!”

- Joe S.

"Very good. Blended fact with humor, compelling and the right length.
Actually saw this film several years ago and stopped eating meat! No more beef, poultry, lamb, etc.
I do eat fish and dairy products and definitely more vegetables!"

- Marvin L.

"I found [The Game Changers] very informative and interesting. I always thought that protein and nutrients come from eating animals but the movie showed me that truly it is plants that account for the nutrients. As an athlete I am focused on recovery and strength and was interested by the effects of a plant-based diet on these things."

- Jack B.

"Very enlightening and motivating. I’m really considering getting off meats.”

- Bob R.

"After hearing your pitch, we made the Jennifer Aniston salad from your recipe page as a family and thought it was so delicious!"

- Sara S.

“I watched Dominion and that was a tough watch. I couldn't really get through it all but tried ... just horrifying to see what really goes on in factory farms. As a dog and cat owner it made me sad, but honestly made me rethink the food decisions I've been making and has made me more conscious about food choices. Since watching, I've been probably 80/20 plant-based when before I didn't even think about it and had animal products at nearly every meal.”

- Craig R.

"The movie [Food, Inc.] pointed out so many important things. I knew that some companies had a monopoly over certain types of food, but I didn’t realize that so few of them controlled the entire food distribution industry. I was also surprise to learn that animals are still being slaughtered in such inhumane ways. And, that assembly lines are still operating the way they had been operating for decades. I thought reforms had been made in both of those areas.”

-Fredda S.

"I was overcome with the horrors of corporate greed and disgusted by their disregard for healthy humans and a healthy planet. I don’t eat “much” fast food as it is, but I doubt I’ll ever succumb even a tiny bit in the future.”

- Buzz S.

"Way to go, Grace! Here's a pic of Nana's yummy curried chick peas and avocado/ cucumber salad that I made tonight. Delish!"

-Shannon R.

"I ordered these veggie rolls, sweet potato tempura rolls, and cucumber rolls instead of my usual sushi tonight after watching Seaspiracy. Honestly tasted just as good. Thanks for inspiring me.”

- C. Rod

"After watching “Game Changers”, my family has been cooking Meatless Monday for the past 6 months. We usually do leftovers on Tuesdays too because the recipes are so delicious. We are passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and plant based nutrition is great way to reach your fitness goals."

- Drew A.

"Woo hoo! You definitely changed our family too to eating at least one meatless dinner per week!"

- Regan A.

"So proud of you, Grace. Good luck with the Q&A with James Wilks from The Game Changers tonight. I hope people come and feel inspired by your pitch!"

- Sophie R.

"Watching 'The Game Changers' was a great experience that altered my perspective on nutrition and athleticism. The documentary provided evidence on plant-based diets that overall enhanced athletes' physical performance which inspired me to adopt healthier eating habits."

- Liam O.

"This movie completely changed how I think about my food choices. I grew up thinking meat was fuel for athletes and that it was essential to our diet. After watching Th Game Changers my perspective has changed and I know how impactful a vegetarian based diet can be for both yourself and the environment."

- Jaime P.

"After watching this movie with Grace and other members of the Loomis community I started to think about the amount of animal products I eat. It gave me a new perspective of how it is possible to thrive as an athlete when being plant based."

- Meredith D.

"Way to go, Grace! I love the thoughtful way you present your thinking. If there is anything I can do to help your cause, please get in touch with me. [Signed] Plant-Base believer and advocate!"

- Ritchie L.

"After watching the film “The Game Changers” and attending the Q and A with James Wilkes, I had a realization of how important it is to be cognizant of what you are eating and the affects it has on the environment. As an athlete I had never considered cutting meats out of my diet but these presentations showed me that I can attain the same level of benefits from plant based eating while simultaneously becoming way more environmentally friendly."

- Kyle G.

"I thought it was an amazing experience to not only watch the film James Wilks
produced, but also be able to discuss his journey with him!... As someone who
has always loved animals and their natural lifestyle, it was very sad for me to see the
conditions many pigs and cows were suffering and living in just so we humans could enjoy
what they have to offer... Now, I will take a step back and rethink the next time I want to
pick up a burger from Shake Shack."

- Rachel B.

"I found The Game Changers to be particularly interesting. In fact, it made me eager to watch more documentaries like this... the olympian [Carl Lewis] who got all of his personal records at thirty years old after converting to a plant based diet, was very inspiring and motivating to me because I do running as my sport."
